For Ashkenazim: Rain on the 1st Night - If it rains on the first night of Yom Tov, the Halacha is as follows: One should wait for one hour after nightfall (8:48 pm) for the rain to stop. If the rain does not stop, one should make Kiddush without reciting Leishev Basukkah, and eat an olive-size piece of bread in the Sukkah. One may then continue to eat the meal in the home. If the rain stopped before one goes to sleep, one should return to the Sukkah and eat more than an egg-size of bread with the Beracha of Leishev Basukkah.
