Jerome Groopman holds the Dina and Raphael Recanati Chair of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and is chief of experimental medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. His research interests are cancer, blood diseases, and AIDS, in addition to medical decision-making. Groopman serves on many scientific editorial boards and has published more than 180 scientific articles. In 2000, he was elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies. He writes regularly about biology and medicine as a staff writer at The New Yorker and has authored numerous editorials on policy issues in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, The New Republic, the Washington Post and.
